Why We Started Questioning Ingredients
I started this page and blog for one reason: awareness.
If even one person starts reading labels a little closer, asks more questions, or makes one healthier swap for their family, then this has all been worth it.
Food and household products just are not the same anymore. And honestly, neither is our health.
More and more people are struggling with things that seem incredibly common now. Cancer, diabetes, heart disease, asthma, autoimmune issues, allergies, behavioral concerns, and chronic inflammation. While there are many factors involved, one thing I keep coming back to is this:
If our food has changed so drastically over the years… shouldn’t we start questioning why our health has too?
This graphic is not meant to create fear or perfectionism. It’s simply a starting point. A small list of ingredients and additives our family tries to avoid when possible after spending years learning, researching, reading labels, and making more intentional choices.
The truth is, many ingredients in modern foods are heavily processed, chemically altered, or added simply to improve shelf life, texture, color, or flavor, not necessarily to nourish our bodies.
And the hard part? Many of us grew up assuming if it was sold in stores, it had to be safe.
But awareness changes things.
When you start reading labels, you begin noticing how many products contain artificial dyes, seed oils, preservatives, sweeteners, gums, fillers, and vague terms like “natural flavors.” These things are everywhere. And while one product may not seem like a big deal, the cumulative effect over years and years can become significant.
The good news is: small changes matter.
You do not need to throw everything away overnight.
You do not need to eat perfectly.
You do not need to live in fear.
Start small.
Maybe it’s switching one snack.
Choosing organic for the foods most heavily sprayed with pesticides. Check out the dirty dozen. https://www.ewg.org/foodnews/dirty-dozen.php
Buying grass-fed meat when possible.
Avoiding artificial dyes.
Cooking at home a little more often.
Small intentional choices add up over time.
At the end of the day, your health matters. Your children’s health matters. And no one will ever care more about protecting your family than you do.
This journey is not about judgment. It’s about learning, questioning, growing, and doing the best we can with the information we have.
And I truly believe awareness is where it all begins.
